PB LOGOGemma was born on 27th October  1980.  She started running when her Dad was training for half marathons and she used to nag him to let her go running with him.  She then won a local primary schools athletics competition and joined Kendal AAC aged 8.  Gemma ran well through the junior ranks under the guidance of Keith Calvert and Ronnie Bell and then gained her first international honours for cross country aged 16.

Gemma has since represented Great Britain at World and European level and feels her greatest achievement is representing Great Britain on road, cross country and track.  She has also won numerous national medals on cross country and track.

Gemma’s favourite races are any national or international championship events.  She has always loved cross country and is now really starting to enjoy racing on the road over 10k and half marathon distances.  On the track she loves the challenge of a 10k race.  Her favourite shoes are currently the Asics Nimbus and Asics DS Trainer.

Gemma works as a physiotherapist at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham where she is currently based and trains at Birmingham University under coach Bob Ashwood.
