Trail Running Shoes
Trail running generally takes place on recognised tracks, rural footpaths and bridleways, over a variety of landscapes including hills, forests trails, through parks and along canal paths. Steep inclines and descents, often over rougher ground, can be encountered particularly if the route goes over fells/hills/mountains and underfoot conditions can range from compacted trails to boggy ground and often some road. Whilst cushioning is important on these runs grip remains an equally important concern.
In terms of a grip to cushioning ratio trail shoes are moving more towards an equal balance between grip and cushioning but still offer a little more in the way of grip.
