Whilst a healthy diet aids performance and recovery during intense and prolonged exercise energy supplements may be needed. Those undertaking regular exercise often have problems in maintaining a sufficient carbohydrate intake and this is where energy supplements come in very useful as they minimise dehydration and provide a source of energy to muscles.
