Pete Bland Sports is a family run business, which has now been in operation for twenty years. We have a wealth of experience and knowledge in all types of running and our qualified staff are always available to answer any queries you may have.

As one of the UK's leading running shops we can cater for any type of runner whether it be fell, trail, cross country, road or track. Please feel free to contact us for any type of advice you may need.

Pete and Ann Bland opened Pete Bland Sports in Kirkland, Kendal in September 1981, although both had been involved in the sale of running gear since 1974. Pete was a prominent fell runner in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. Anne was an early pioneer of ladies fell running and was the first lady to complete the Elite class in the Karrimor Mountain Marathon. The First London Marathon in 1981 saw her set a PB of 2 hours and 50 minutes at the age of 39. Pete has been membership secretary of the Fell Runners Association since 1985, a duty that is still carried out today from the shop in Kendal. Pete was also manager of the England Fell Running team for nearly 10 years, a post he retired from at the end of 1999. Jon Broxap formerly of Keswick AC, now running for Kendal, joined PBS in 1985. Jon is a former FRA Secretary and England Fell Running International. Steve Varney, like Jon a former Keswick AC member who now runs for Kendal, joined PBS in 1995. Pete's son Mathew is the latest addition to the staff, joining in 1998, and now handles the day-to-day running of the shop.
