Mountain Marathon Kit List

This is our list of what most Mountain Marathon Events such as the OMM and Saunders, ask you to carry. Whilst we have tried to be comprehensive, it is always best to check with individual event details and requirments as they can vary.

Most events specify items that ALL COMPETITORS must carry and that ALL TEAMS must carry. We have broken this list down into this. 

Each competitor must usually carry:

X-Talon 212 Fell Running Mountain Marathon

Footwear - Suitable for use in the mountains i.e. fell running/trail shoes or boots (some events specify a minimum tread depth of 4mm) Shop Men's | Shop Women's

Adventure 20 Rucksack OMM

Rucksack - Capable of carrying all the kit outlined below

Mountain Equipment Sleeping Bag

Sleeping Bag - A sleeping mat will also make a big difference to your overnight warmth and comfort.

Emergency Bivvy

Survival Bag – a Bag NOT a Space Blanket. 

Inov-8 Waterproof Stormshell

Nike Tights

Some events will ask you to carry spare baselayers (top and bottoms) in addition those you intend to run in.

Running Hat & Gloves

Hat & Gloves - Most events don't consider a neck tube or Buff to be a hat. Headwear needs to be warm. Waterproof gloves or a copule of pairs of thinner ones often works well.

Runnig Socks Cushioned off Road

Socks inc. a spare pair - Its worth taking a couple for the overnight camp.

Headtorch Petzl Rechargeable

Torch - (suitable for emergency night navigation with useable light lasting at least 12hrs)

Each team must carry the following at all times:

Mountain Marathon Tent

Tent - with sewn in groundsheet, poles and pegs

MSR Pocket Rocket Stove Mountain Marathon

Stove & fuel, matches/lighter – with Emergency fuel remaining at the end of Day 2

Mountain Marathon Food

Food for 2 days including your Emergency food which you will still have with you when you finish Day 2. If you have eaten your Emergency food before the Finish then you will have experienced an Emergency and consequently be assumed to have retired.

First Aid Kit

Plasters and bandage - some evnts specify a more comprehensive First Aid Kit, it is also carrying some blister plasters
