In-Store Gait Analysis at Pete Bland Sports
No appointment necessary - takes approximately 10 minutes
Whether you want to start running or you have been a runner for as long as you can remember, it’s important to know your running style. Are you an overpronator or perhaps a neutral runner? Find out with a free gait analysis and have one of our expert staff give you advice on the right shoe for your feet.
What is Gait Analysis?
Gait analysis is the study of someone’s running style. The monitoring of your foot and ankle movements whilst running will highlight any inefficiencies that could cause you to waste energy or cause injury. Wearing the correct shoe for your specific running style will help increase efficiency and reduce the risk of injury
Having your gait analysed is a great step towards injury prevention and better running style for every level of runner. So whether you're serious about running, or you're just starting out, we think gait analysis will be of some use to you.
Even if you do not consider yourself to be a serious runner why not have your feet looked at analysed by our fully trained staff using our treadmill and running specific software.
What happens during Gait Analysis?
You will run for a few minutes on the treadmill, which is situated in the shoe area of our store while a video clip is taken. This clip is then slowed down and analysed by a member of staff using the Contemplas Templo Lite Software on a desktop screen which you will be able to view. Your running style will be explained to you and you will then have the opportunity to try the most suitable shoe for your gait and see how this helps improve your running style by jumping on the treadmill again.
Please come along to our Kendal store and take the opportunity to use our treadmill - we are open Monday to Saturday from 9 am until 5:30 pm and no appointment is necessary.
Just turn up at the store, preferably with a pair of shorts, which you can change into in our changing room, or a pair of trousers which can be rolled up. Please allow enough time to; go on the treadmill (10 minutes), receive advice and guidance from our staff and then some extra time to try on a selection of shoes.
If you are able to bring your 'old' running shoes with you that would be useful but don't worry if you can't as we can carry out the initial analysis with one of our pairs of 'neutral' shoes. Neutral running shoes are cushioned but have no specific, what we call structured cushioning in the midsole which is designed to reduce over-pronation.
A trained member of staff will then help you find the ideal shoe for your feet - after all, as a runner your feet are your most valuable asset.
